The organizers predicted one million visitors, but only 320.000 young people registered for the 2013 WYD. However, Pope Francis’ final mass attracted an estimated 3 million people on Copacabana beach.
Rio de Janeiro’s hotel capacity is not enough to accommodate all pilgrims. Three types of accommodation were made available:
-Hotels
-Family homes
-Schools/parish premises
